  2. Click on the assignment sheet and you will see the directions.

You are basically writing an essay about mental illness in "Richard Cory" and "The Yellow Wallpaper". First, decide what you want to say about mental illness. Is it a good thing? Is it a bad thing? Is it seen in different ways? What you want to say will be your thesis statement. Once you decide this, you will then use your body paragraphs to show how each text supports your opinion/argument (thesis statement) about mental illness. You can quote from the text and use literary elements like theme, irony, setting, point of view etc. to make your point.

The texts are available in this post (just click the links). If you can't get them, you can google "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson and "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gillman and they will come up easily.

    Good luck!
